The Kerala Story Adah Sharma said The character has physically and emotionally scarred me
Actress Adah Sharma, who portrayed the protagonist in the movie The Kerala Story directed by Sudipto Sen, claimed that her portrayal in the movie left her with both physical and emotional scars.
“Playing Shalini Unnikrishnan left me with emotional and physical scars. These wounds go all the way to the core of my spirit. The Times of India quoted Sharma as saying, “Scars that won’t be healed in a lifetime.”
The performer said, “The awareness that the film has created will save the lives of so many girls,” when asked how she handled the harsh resistance to the film’s release. We have received a lot of support.
She stated, “Terrorism is dangerous. For me, the movie has always been about an innocent girl who gets entangled in the ISIS web. This tale had to be told by someone.
“Despite not being a part of a film family, the support I’ve received from everyone is unheard of. The entire country is behind me. I feel numb and humbled. The goals I set for myself were very modest. As the movie is expected to become one of the most popular Hindi films in recent memory, the actor continued, “These are all the hopes that my loved ones have for me that are coming true.
Adah Sharma made her big-screen debut in 2008 with Vikram Bhatt’s spooky horror movie 1920. Since then, she has appeared in 18 films in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.
The Kerala Story, in contrast, is performing better than several star-driven films that have already been released in 2023. The movie exceeded the Rs 50 crore mark in less than a week on its fifth day of release (a working Tuesday), performing nearly on pace with its debut Saturday.
Director-turned-producer Vipul Shah, who funded the film, commented on the makers of The Kerala Story’s now-retracted assertion that the movie depicts the lives of more than 32,000 Kerala women who were supposedly radicalised by Islamic fundamentalists, saying that for him, true numbers are irrelevant.
We wanted to portray a tale that needs to be shared, Shah stated in an interview with News18. Never was it about the statistics. Whether 32 or 32,000 women underwent this event is irrelevant. It is important that this (religious change) took place. And this information needed to be made public.
