Bindu claims that despite of maximum votes she has never received a Filmfare award
Bindu claims that despite receiving the most votes of all the nominees, she was frequently overlooked for Filmfare Awards. She has stated that this has occurred numerous times, noting that whereas Jaya Bachchan received an award for her debut film, she was informed that she was “too new” to receive one when she received her first nomination for Do Raaste.
Bindu received nine Filmfare nominations throughout her career in Bollywood, however she never won a prize. Bindu made her acting début in the 1962 film Anpadh, and in the critically acclaimed films Ittefaq and Do Raaste in 1969. Both films did well at the box office, and for Ittefaq and Do Raaste, Bindu received her first Filmfare nomination. Bindu later received nominations for her roles in Dastaan and the legendary Amitabh Bachchan-Jaya Bachchan movie Abhimaan. She was also nominated for a Filmfare award and garnered nods for the films Hawas, Imtihan, and Arjun Pandit by Hrishikesh Mukherjee.
Bindu explained to Bollywood Hungama that everything takes place behind closed doors: “Ye andar ki baatein hain, merko pata bhi chala tha ki sabse zyada votes milne ki bavajood, mujhe award nahi diya gaya. I discovered that even though I had the most votes, I was not given the prize. This has always happened at Filmfare, and it happened three to four times.
I received a nomination for Do Raaste. However, they questioned how they could offer you an award for your debut movie. However, because Jaya Bachchan (Bachchan) played the lead character in Guddi, she also received an award. I didn’t get it from them. I also received a nomination for Dastaan. I received votes, but once more, I didn’t receive the honour.
Bindu became one of the top heroines who appeared in cabaret dance songs in Hindi films after securing her place in the film industry early on with her acting skills. In addition to Bindu, Helen and Aruna Irani were key figures in the new generation of dance tunes and vamps in Bollywood throughout the 1970s.
