FIR was filed against producer and director Om Raut for the movie Adipurush
Adipurush’s producer, director, and cast have all been named in a lawsuit alleging that the film’s new poster offends religious sensibilities by incorrectly depicting a figure from Hindu mythology.
Through Mumbai High Court Advocates Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra, Sanjay Dinanath Tiwari, who identifies as a preacher of Sanatan Dharma, filed the case at Mumbai’s Sakinaka police station.
Sanjay said in the complaint that Adipurush had been made on Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram’s life story as found in the sacred text Ramcharitmanas. He claimed that the new Adipurush billboard depicts Lord Ram in a costume that is at odds with his true nature and the spirit of the Ramcharitmanas as described in the Hindu scripture.
Adipurush’s creators recently presented a brand-new cast poster on the joyous occasion of Ram Navami, a festival observed to honour Lord Ram’s birth anniversary. Prabhas and Sunny are depicted in the poster wielding a bow and arrow while dressed in armour and a dhoti. Devdatta is seen bending down in the service of the three while Kriti is dressed simply in a sari with her head covered.
The much-anticipated teaser for Adipurush was released by the filmmakers last year. However, due to the portrayal of Hindu deities and the poor quality of the visual effects, it became involved in controversy. Saif’s appearance as the demon king, who was shown sporting a beard and long hair, drew criticism from online users for the apparent Islamization of Lankesh.
Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, Kriti Sanon, and Sunny Singh play the key roles in the movie. It is scheduled to premiere on June 16, 2023.
