Rani Mukerji claims she joined cinema as her family required financial help I didn’t know at the time

For more than 25 years, Rani Mukerji has worked in the film industry. In 1996, she appeared in the Bengali film Biyer Phool for the first time, and in the subsequent Hindi film Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat, she made her acting debut. The star recently admitted that she wasn’t really interested in pursuing a career in movies as a child. After a two-year hiatus, the actor is back this month with a new movie, Mrs. Chatterjee Vs. Norway. Rani plays an Indian woman living in Norway whose young children are taken away from her because she is deemed an unfit mother in the drama based on actual events. Her mother persuaded her to pursue acting when she was younger.

Afterwards, Rani understood that working would assist her family’s financial position, which was not excellent at the time, improve. The actor recounted in an interview with Pinkvalla, “As I grew up, an offer came my way. My mum advised me very nicely to give it a go and return to your studies if it doesn’t work out. Perhaps I wasn’t aware of it at the time, but my family’s circumstances necessitated financial assistance. So I didn’t really consider things in that light.
